01The project
Paper Cuts is a self-initiated 32-page zine about the messy middle of design work. Instead of presenting finished artefacts, it collects failed experiments, abandoned directions and the fragments that survived.
The layout uses a modular grid that is deliberately broken at chapter boundaries — a visual argument for process over polish.
02Objectives
Make process visible without making the object feel like a sketchbook; design something that is quick and cheap to print and reprint.
03Creative concept
Interruption as structure. The grid holds steady for six pages, then breaks for one spread, then resets — mimicking the rhythm of testing and discarding.
04Design process
Content was collected first from my own archive, then sequenced into a narrative of failure, revision and resolution. The grid rules were written down before layout began.
05Final solution
A 32-page A5 zine with cover, three chapter openers and a risograph production plan.
06Outcome
A finished zine dummy and production plan. Concept study only.
